Downtown Voices and NOVUS present an evening of powerful, thought-provoking music with the world premiere of Stephen Main’s The Image and Jessie Montgomery’s Divided. Composed for solo cello and orchestra, Divided captures the emotional turmoil of a world grappling with racial injustice, poverty, and climate change. Expanding on the theme of individual dignity, The Imagereflects on humanity’s struggle for liberty and justice across history, warning of the fragility of these ideals in the face of rising authoritarianism.
