To open Queer Urban Orchestra’s season, the orchestra celebrates its fifteenth birthday looking back at the orchestra’s history of essential contributions to the community. The orchestra navigates the passionate sonic journey of Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony, one of the first major works QUO performed. The orchestra continues to champion music by queer composers writing today with works by Jessie Montgomery, Omar Thomas, and QUO’s own Noah Green. Two of Piazzolla’s tango-infused Seasons of Buenos Aires feature QUO’s longtime concertmaster Phong Ta. Finally, Andrea Profili, music director of the American Youth Orchestra, conducts Ravel’s mesmerizing Boléro.
