The HK Phil commences its 50th concert season with the Asia Premiere of The Elements, a collaborative work by leading American composers Jake Heggie, Jennifer Higdon, Edgar Meyer, Jessie Montgomery and Kevin Puts. Each composer incorporated their chosen elements of fire, air, water, space and earth into the thematic narrative of their work. Commissioned and performed by Grammy Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell, this important suite of new works is conducted by Jaap van Zweden, who concludes the concert with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no. 4.
